Jewlery care & Warranty
jewelry care instructions
Our jewellery is made of 14K gold (58.5% pure gold) or 18K gold (75% pure gold).
Gold jewellery is composed of an alloy of precious metals, which gives the final shade of the gold color of the jewellery.
Rose gold jewellery is made by alloying pure gold with other metals, mainly copper and sometimes silver or zinc, to balance the hardness of the material.
White gold jewellery is made from an alloy of pure gold with silver, zinc or nickel and other metals, followed by rhodium plating – a precious metal from the platinum family, with a silver-white color that gives shine and light to the jewellery.
Over the years, the rhodium layer may lose some of its shine, and the yellowish color of pure gold may become visible. That is why we recommend an annual professional cleaning and washing of the jewellery at a jeweller.
It is also recommended to polish the gold, renew the rhodium layer, and check the stability of the mounted stones, once every two years.
Guide to the correct and safe use and wearing of jewellery:
- Wear and remove any jewellery with care, as jewellery mounts are not resistant to mechanical shock. It is recommended to wear and remove jewellery consciously and carefully so that it does not get pulled by clothes, belts, bag handles, sleeves, sweaters, etc.
- Each piece of jewellery should be stored separately, in a box or cloth bag, to avoid scratching the gold surface.
- Do not wear the jewellery during cleaning activities or when using substances containing sulphur. Contact with any chemical substance can damage gold, cause stones to fall off or cause color changes.
- We strongly recommend removing jewelry before going to sleep to avoid the risk of accidental damage, as jewelry can snag or deform.
- Avoid wearing jewellery during physical activities, such as lifting weights, pulling ropes and elastic bands, lifting heavy objects or bags that put pressure on your fingers – these can cause the jewellery to deform and bend. A piece of jewellery that has been hit or pulled can lose its shape a little even in a way that is not visible to the eye and, as a result, stones/diamonds/pearls, etc. can fall off.
- The falling of stones is mainly caused by the modification/curving of the shape of the gold, even if this is not visible to the naked eye. Therefore, it is recommended to be careful in case of pulling or bending a piece of jewellery and to immediately contact a jeweller to check the stability of the stones/diamonds/pearls. In any case, it is recommended to do such a check every two years.
- Over time, precious metals that come into contact with substances such as perfumes, salts, cleaning and cosmetic products, creams, hair products, pool water, seawater, chlorine, sulphur and others, can lose their shine and color. In most cases, jewellery can be renewed by polishing and rhodium dipping (in the case of white gold).
- Prolonged use causes the accumulation of dust, dirt, grease and scratches that over time hide the shine and natural beauty of jewellery. That is why it is recommended to clean and polish your jewellery once a year to bring back and enjoy the shine of diamonds, stones and gold.
- Regarding rose gold jewellery, in certain situations an oxidation reaction may occur between the copper present in the gold alloy and the skin (especially for those with more acidic skin, i.e. lower PH) or when exposed to sweat, heat and humidity. This reaction causes a black spot to form on the skin in the area of the jewellery, this is a natural chemical reaction and there is no reason to worry or fear that the jewellery is not made of real gold. To avoid a repeat of the case, clean the jewellery with warm water and soap and use a microfiber cloth. Avoid submerging your jewellery in sea/pool water and avoid using creams while wearing your jewellery. Jewellery should be worn after the creams have been applied and absorbed into the body.
Jewellery can also be cleaned at home by submerging it in a bowl of warm water and a few drops of dishwashing detergent for about 10 minutes, then rinsing with water and drying with a microfiber cloth. In case of oxidation (formation of black spots), you can prepare a paste of baking soda and water, which you can apply gently with a soft, clean toothbrush, then rinse and dry with a microfiber cloth.
